Greetings in the name of Jesus,
Once again, I feel as though I have been neglecting posts.
Have you heard about Hurricance Harvey that hit the Texas Gulf Coast at the end of August?
We're located on the northeast side of Houston.....the Lord was gracious and merciful to us throughout the terrible flooding that so many in our area are still dealing with. We had no damage from the storm or flooding in our home! The worst that happened was losing power for about 6 hours one morning.
We have friends who were rescued from their flooded homes and neighborhoods by the Coast Guard, others by good samaritans in boats who answered the call to come and help if possible. God bless them all!!
Our church buildings flooded with between 2 and 3 feet of water. The girls and I spent some time working up there making inventory lists (me) and pulling up carpet (the girls....and they did this for 4 days straight!) Professionals are currently cleaning the interior so that we can begin to restore the buildings.
The news coverage contained images that we knew were really happening, but at the same time seemed so unreal.
Life for us has pretty much returned to normal, but normal has been forever changed for so many families. We're still trying to figure how we can best help some of them.
We've begun our home school studies and I've been working on a transcript for our high school senior this year, which I have completed except for this year's work - which is really HUGE. I wanted to celebrate a bit, and while the girls were at the youth service last night, my husband took me out for a quick dinner before we had to pick them up.
The question on the home page is about celebrations and how you like to recognize special days or accomplishments...have fun chatting about that!
