Okay....this was really a post for newlywed wives, but I think that most of it can apply to newlywed husbands, too.
It's another post from Club 31 and you can find it here: http://club31women.com/22-marriage-tips/
22 Marriage Tips! WOW - that's quite a few
Think about whether or not you're doing some of these things already.
Do you disagree with or have any reservations about any of them?
Do you think that some of them might be difficult to do?
Perhaps read through them separately and then have a chat about them while you enjoy a cup of your favorite beverage for this time of year.

Grace and peace to you,
I've just read an article by Lisa Jacobson over at Club31 that I know I've read before.
Cannot remember if I shared it here with you.
If I have, it's worth sharing again.

Have a lovely week ~

Greetings in the Precious Name of Jesus,
I pray that this week has begun well for you.
The new question on the home page is about social media, texts, and the internet.
Have you ever read something in a blog or post or somewhere on social media that made you cringe?
Have you ever posted something yourself that you later wished you hadn't?
I read a really good article this morning by Lynn Cowell over at Proverbs31 about the importance of guarding what we post or type in various forms of communication.
Here is what I told my teen daughters when I forwarded the email to them:
Hello again, my lovelies…..
Please read this devotional when you have time.
What she talks about is partly why I shy away from social media.
(I don’t want to be tempted to ‘say’ something I shouldn’t, nor do I want to subject myself to what other people post and shouldn’t….)
I am extremely careful about what I type in emails or texts for the very reasons that she discusses.
I don’t ever want something that I placed in type somewhere to come back and bite me.
We shouldn’t be talking about other people anyway, but sometimes we need to talk through situations with people we trust (like parents!) and try to gain perspective, or decide what action to take, if any.
People seem to think that the internet and social media are somehow anonymous. They aren’t. They are so very public!
Let me know what your thoughts are after you read it.
I love you both so much ~

May God be with you and guide your thoughts and speech today and every day ~

We returned not too long ago from dinner out....it is the 24th anniversary of when he first told me "I love you."
As we finished dinner, he asked if I wanted to order dessert. I declined. I'd already consumed too much with chips and salsa, then sour cream enchiladas with rice, beans, and a queso puff..........just couldn't do it.
However, now that we're home, the old sweet tooth is waking up.
My beloved went to retrieve our younger daughter from church. Just heard the news that they are stopping at the store for ice cream.
It's been about an hour since we finished supper. Ice cream is sounding kind of yummy right now.
Actually, when does ice cream not sound yummy?
I'll see if I can eat a few bites.
So, chat with each other about ordering dessert - yes, or no? Why, or why not?
Have fun........While you're at it, why don't you share samples of some of your favorites!
May God bless you with restful sleep tonight ~

I was up early today and read this article by John Mark Comer over at Faithgateway and wanted to share the link with you.
It's really an article about his book, titled Loveology, but he makes some great points in the article about how men and women are both necessary, and have roles that are equally important.
It will take several minutes to read, but I think that you will find it a good investment. I've got to put this book information in my want to read file.

Have a blessed day ~

We are now past the Super Bowl, and will be experiencing a break in watching football - I'm sure that the players need time to recover and work on strengthening and recuperating from any injuries and sore muscles.
I cannot imagine what they go through every game....I always cringe when someone experiences a big hit on either team - especially the ones they don't see coming - that's got to hurt!
Now we are past the Super Bowl and the question of the week is about what you like to drink in the morning with your breakfast - or without your breakfast.
Many people choose coffee, but as a friend pointed out to me years ago, soft drinks work, too....
What about you? Juice? Coffee? Smoothie? Milk? Tea? Soda?
Get to know each other and your morning routines a little better as you chat about this.
May your day be blessed ~

Grace and Peace to you all,
I just read an article over at Faithgateway that I wanted to share with you.
It's by Gary L. Thomas, and it discussing truly cherishing your spouse (or beloved) and how we need to be specific and deliberate in this endeavor.
"You can love without cherishing, but you cannot cherish without love." This is one of the statements he makes in the short video link at the end of the article.
He also has a book by the title, Cherish. I have not yet read it, but the article is definitely a good one.
I challenge you to think about how you can cherish each other everyday, and follow through!
May God guard and guide your thoughts and your heart ~

I hope that this finds the new week and this day going well.
The Superbowl is next week Sunday
Are you someone who enjoys watching the big game?
I am one of those folks who really enjoys the Superbowl commercials They tend to be so clever, and even if the teams playing aren't really ones that I enjoy, I still like watching the game - just so I can see all the commercials.
How do you feel about Superbowl parties? Do you like to attend? Do you like to host?
Talk about all this, and enjoy the game next Sunday!! (May the best team win)
God's peace and grace to you this week ~

Grace and Peace to All,
I just read an excellent article by Gary Thomas over at the Focus on the Family web site.
I wanted to share this link with you so that you can read the article. (It will only take a few minutes, as it is short.) http://www.focusonthefamily.com/marriage/strengthening-your-marriage/how-you-may-be-betraying-your-wife?utm_campaign=Keeping+Your+Wife%27s+Secrets+is+a+Sacred+Trust&utm_medium=email&utm_source=nl_focusenews
It really is a message to a husband about being the keeper of his wife's secrets - and her trust....I would venture to say that the opposite is true as well, for a wife to keep her husband's secrets and his trust.
May your weekend be spent in the Lord's presence,

Grace and peace be with you all,
Do you pray for our elected officials?
I admit, it's easy to forget - especially when the person in that office is not the person you hoped would win the election. (I confess, I honestly haven't done this much in the past eight years.)
So - I am going to try put much more effort throughout these next four years in praying for our governmental leaders.
I have high hopes for this new administration...we have had a peaceful transfer of power and our new president has been inaugurated in a truly glorious ceremony last Friday. It was heartening to hear Scripture, the Lord's name, and prayer given in the name of Jesus.
Please join in praying for our elected officials, and those in authority over us.
"Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you. Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way." Hebrews 13:17-18
"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior." 1Timothy 2:1-3
